HISTORY

Legacy Football Club was established in 2014 by Jason Logan, Jay Rist and Jerry Umberger, three local players and coaches, who wanted to give the children of their community the type of travel club soccer experience they had growing up. Their goal was to create a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization that truly focused on the education and development of its players while providing an opportunity for match play against in-state and out-of-state competition. The formation of the club would also carry on the long-standing tradition of soccer excellence in Beckley, West Virginia that goes back to the 1970s.

The first training session was held in June of 2014 with twenty kids participating. As word spread that a new club was being formed and that the trainings offered a uniquely high-quality experience for players, the number of participants grew. By the spring of 2015, Legacy FC was ready to officially launch with five teams. Today, the club has grown to include over 200 players with boys and girls teams from U-8 through U-18.
